When you vacuum seal your pantry staples in Vac-U-Seal glass jar containers using our Vacuum Sealer Jar Wand, you’re removing the one ingredient that causes food to lose its taste, texture and goodness: air.
Take flours, baking powder and bicarb, for example. Once exposed to air and moisture, the raising and leavening magic is reduced, with visible results in your baking. By removing the oxygen, you’re vastly reducing the speed of the spoilage process and helping your ingredients stay naturally fresh for longer.

How to use the Vac-U-Seal jars
Caring for your jars
Vac-U-Seal jars are easy to clean and use, with care instructions etched on every jar. The reusable lids and silicone bands are not dishwasher safe, so we recommend handwashing all parts in hot, soapy water and rinsing thoroughly before first use and every use.
Six steps to sealing your jars
- Wash, rinse and dry jars, lids and silicone bands. Sterilise if contents will be cooked for less than 10 mins.
- Keep jars warm in hot water (or a 80°C oven) until ready to use. Allow food to cool to below 80°C before filling.
- Remove air bubbles with a silicone spatula, wipe the rims and attach the lids.
- Twist the jar lid in a clockwise direction and check there are no folds in the seal.
- Press the ON button to start the vacuum process and wait for it to stop automatically.
- Check the lid seal is secure and screw on the band, making it finger tight.
