2 Blades snapped at base in 4 months
I owned a TM31 from 2009 to 2022 and never had a single issue with the blades. In 2022, I purchased a TM6, only to have two blades snap off in the last four months.
On both occasions, I contacted Thermomix, only to be told that it was my fault and that I must have done something wrong, such as putting too much food in the bowl or cutting ingredients into pieces that were too large. After I challenged their explanations and provided photos, I was told that the blades have a lifespan of only 6–24 months! I was in effect lucky that my blades latest well beyond the their time frame. As I rotated my two blades, they only did half the work each and not 4 years each of constant work.
How can a machine that was once promoted as having a "lifetime" of use now apparently have a lifespan of just 10 years, with blades needing replacement every 6–24 months?
It is clear to me that the quality of Thermomix is no longer what it used to be, and the lack of accountability when problems arise is equally disappointing. Unfortunately, this will be my last Thermomix.
What makes this particularly upsetting is that I have a disability, and my Thermomix has been invaluable in helping me prepare food and cook simple meals independently. It has made a real difference to my daily life. However, I simply cannot justify the expense of repeatedly replacing parts or purchasing a new machine.
I expected much better quality, durability and customer service from Thermomix.

Hi Nicky,
Thanks for the review. The Thermomix® mixing knife/blades are considered a consumable item and are subject to wear over time. They are not generally covered under warranty unless the issue is confirmed to be a manufacturing defect present on arrival.
Some people will get 5+ years from their blade but others may need to replace the blade every 6 months.
