Care instructions for your Ovana Bamboo Brush
Cleaning any pizza stone with water is likely to cause them to crack, so keep it simple, and dry. Always use your Ovana Bamboo Brush to clean your pizza stone, and always allow the stone to cool completely before cleaning.
Handwash your brush with warm water and mild detergent and store it in a dry place, out of the reach of children (that scraper is very sharp). You may find oxidation occurs over time and discolours the stainless steel bristles and blade, but that won’t compromise their cleaning performance.
Care instructions for your Ovana Pizza Knife
We recommend slicing your pizza on a wooden board. To clean the blade, handwash with a soft cloth, warm water and mild soap. Then dry with a tea towel and store with the blade cover on to keep your blade sharp as new and protect your hands. Avoid harsh or abrasive detergents and scrubbing pads, or using metal utensils or knives on the blade.
Care instructions for your Ovana Sizzle Pan
Before first use, we recommend washing your new Ovana Sizzle Pan in warm water with mild soap and a soft cloth, sponge or stiff brush. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a tea towel before seasoning.
Seasoning your Ovana Sizzle Pan
Start by laying a sheet of aluminium foil on the bottom rack of your kitchen stove, then preheat to 180 degrees Celsius. Using a clean cloth or paper towel, rub 1-2 tbs of oil (vegetable oil, shortening or olive oil) into the skillet pan (top to bottom), then place the oiled pan upside down on the center rack and bake for an hour. Allow your pan to cool completely before removing from the oven. Over time and use, your pan’s smooth and shiny seasoning will start to wear off and your food may start to stick to the surface. That’s the time to re-season.
Can you choose not to season at all? Absolutely. Just make sure you clean and dry your pan quickly after every use.
Clean immediately after cooking
While your Sizzle Pan is still warm, handwash in hot water with a sponge or stiff brush. Avoid soaking or using harsh, high-alkaline detergents, abrasive cleaners and scrubbing pads.
To loosen stuck-on foods without stripping off the lovely seasoning, simply boil up some water in the pan, then make a paste from water and coarse salt to gently scrub the surface. To dry, use a tea towel, or place your pan on your stovetop over a low heat. Add a light coat of oil before storing away in a dry place.
We also recommend letting your pan heat up slowly using a moderate heat in your Ovana oven before cooking on high heat
