What to do with an abundance of pineapple

What to do with an abundance of pineapple

Take it to the tropics!

Pineapples are in abundance this summer and we’ve certainly been making the most of their sweet taste (and low cost)! Whilst packed with vitamin C and other nutritional benefits, pineapples are also a versatile ingredient that lends itself well to both sweet and savoury dishes. It's tropical flavour pairs nicely with lime, macadamia, cilantro, basil, caramel, rosemary (and the list goes on).

Here’s what we’ve been cooking with pineapple this summer season:

Breakfast

Want to eat pineapple for breakfast all year round? Buy them whilst they’re in season, peel, cut into cubes and keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. This is a great idea for smoothies too and you will save heaps of money on buying supermarket frozen pineapple later in the year!

Dinner time

You can find more great recipes using pineapple on Recipe Community like this Pineapple and coconut (varoma) fried rice. Import this recipe (and others that you love) to your own Cookidoo® account using Created Recipes and then you can make anytime using Guided Cooking on your TM6 (plus you can add any other ingredients, tips or steps to make this recipe your own).

Don’t forget dessert

Pineapple and frozen treats are a truly refreshing pairing and perfect for summer! Try one of these ice cream recipes and shop ice cream tubs and popsicle moulds on TheMix Shop. Of course you can’t beat cake for dessert too so we’ve thrown a couple of those in for good measure too!

Drinks

With its tropical, sweet taste, pineapple is a great addition to your juices, smoothies and cocktails! Whether kickstarting your day with a wellness smoothie or topping the night off with Pina coladas, pineapple is versatile and delicious.
