Chicken 65 and green chutney
Originating from the famous Hotel Buhari in Chennai, this divine dish is now popular in all regions of India. The true origins of its name are up for debate, with some versions alleging it was the 65th dish on the menu, while others claim the chicken was reared for 65 days, or that the original recipe used 65 chillies. We may never know the real story, but we do know it’s truly delicious! View the Chicken 65 and green chutney rice on Cookidoo.
Paneer
You’ll be surprised how easy it is to make this ubiquitous Indian cheese at home. It can be hard to find a local specialist store that stocks a good paneer, so save yourself the time, hassle and extra cost by making your own from fresh, easily sourced ingredients. And once you have your batch ready to go, it goes in some of the most amazing vegetarian Indian recipes. Think palak paneer (a sensational savoury spinach and cheese dish) and the classic street food favourite, paneer tikka (paneer and vegetables, marinated in tikka paste and cooked on a skewer). View the Paneer recipe on Cookidoo.
Tarka dal
Get your fakeaway fix any night of the week with this simple, healthy vegetarian main that you can get on the table in just 30 minutes! Dal is an aromatic dish that hits all the right notes. Made with a flavor-filled blend of spices and plant-based protein (lentils), it has heaps of health benefits. Pair it with homemade roti and chutney for a full-on flavour bomb. Curry Heaven
Great, easy to follow recipes. Am loving sampling such a wide range of great Indian recipes. My one caution is that, being a lover of spicy foods, some of the recipes don't quite deliver the kick that I'd anticipated. It would be helpful if the level of heat (mild, medium, strong) could be clearly indicated.
