Thermomix® partners with KiwiHarvest

From the beginning, Grace's mission for Thermomix® in New Zealand was to make a difference in people’s lives.

Each year in New Zealand we waste 103,000 tonnes of food. Despite this, 21% of Kiwi children live in households where food runs out sometimes or often. These are stats that together, we can help change.

“We’re keen to extend our impact, and partnering with KiwiHarvest was the perfect way for us to do that,” says Bianca Mazur, Chief Executive Officer.

Donation of Thermomix® TM6

Kiwi Harvest helps by redistributing surplus foods to those in need. Every $5 donation feeds a family of 4 for 3 meals a day. Every month KiwiHarvest rescues 170,000 - 200,000Kg of good quality surplus food, and diverts this back to people who are struggling across New Zealand.

We’ve donated 3 refurbished Thermomix® TM6s to KiwiHarvest to be used in their kitchens.

Our mission to improve food security

The current cost of living crisis has hit families hard, with food prices continuing to climb. By supporting 220 charities across the country, KiwiHarvest are on a mission to help Aotearoa’s population become 100% food secure, ensuring every man, woman and child has access to enough good, nutritious food each day.

Roskill South Hub is one of those charity partners, aiming to achieve healthy lives and thriving communities through collaboration and activities that allow the whole whanau to thrive. This is the impact they’re having.

“One of our local mums has received food parcels from the Hub. She knows the community well and will often refer families in need for food and other things to the Hub. This mum now also delivers food parcels each week to the few local people that are not able to pick up their parcel. This is what we want, us supporting people and then they in turn supporting others. The food support we receive from KiwiHarvest is much appreciated and helps so many families in need.”

Right now, more people than ever are struggling to put food on the table. A donation of $10 to KiwiHarvest = 20 meals.

Five food waste facts

One third of all food produced is lost or wasted each year. Annually, NZ wastes enough good food to feed the entire population of Dunedin or Northland – $1.7 billion worth of food.

Decomposing food in landfill produces methane - a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.

Households waste over $1,500 of food annually.

The most wasted foods are veggies, bread, fruit, salad and leftovers.
